Spanish Class with Tricia

  A day at Spanish Camp!

Here's what the schedule looks like for a day at Spanish Camp:

1--Together Time:  We start off with some fun circle time where we review a little.  We'll have an activity with the Spanish numbers or colors.  We'll use objects to practice the vocabulary.

2--  Daily Theme:  We'll move on to today's topic and learn some new words with pictures and objects.

3-- Vocab Activities:  Students will work on interactive activities and crafts to practice the vocab.

4--  Outdoor Time:  Students will start off with some fun stretches inside to practice the body parts vocab and then we'll head outside for a short playground time.  From there we'll move on to some fun outdoor vocab games & activities which involve movement & exercise.  While we are outside we'll create some masterpieces with sidewalk chalk to practice the vocab!

5--Snack time:  On the way in we'll have a potty/ hand washing break  followed by a snack that corresponds with the vocab.  On animal day we'll have animal crackers & goldfish.

6-- Storytime:  I'll read several books to the children in Spanish & English.  The books will go along with the daily theme.

7--  Arts & Craft:  These projects will go along with the theme.

8--  Write your Own Book!  Each day we'll work on several pages of 'My Spanish Book' which students will compile and take home on Thursday.

9--Games:  Students will play vocab games, picture bingo, color games, number games, and play with toys to practice the vocab: vehicles, animals, pretend cooking, etc.

10-- Fiesta Day is Thursday!  At our fiesta we will have a fresh fruit market (mercado) and  we'll  make ham & cheese quesadillas and fruit sculptures.  Our lunch will be finished up with some 'helado'! (ice cream)

Reading & writing skills are not required as vocab will be taught with pictures & objects.  Students will receive take home pages each day for further study of the language.  The book that each student will take home on Thursday will allow students to review and use the material that they have mastered.  (I will be able to work with students individually so older students will be able to learn additional material.)  As we have time we will take a look at a world map & discuss Spanish speaking countries & missionaries!
